As a requirement in the State of Michigan, each provisional holder of a teacher's license must complete a course related to literacy before they can re-apply for their permanent license. The specifics of this class focused on teaching strategies for the development of literacy and the major assignment asked us to produce a case study that analyzed a students needs in their literacy development. The image provided above represents the importance in using multimedia resources in the area of literacy.
Self introduction project
In the introductory project the secondary goal was to present ourselves as educators and learners to the class. However, the primary initiative of the assignment was really to consider the role of literacy in our classroom and present our focus to the class.
Literacy Learner case study
The major project of this course involved working individually with a student struggling in an aspect of literacy discussed in the class. Two lessons were created to help identify, analyze and improve an area of literacy development for the particular student. In this particular case study, I focused on the comprehension of important Social Studies concepts and considered how this impacted their writing skills.
